At some point, I got a reputation for shooting photos with fire, with something burning. I did a lot of them. Before the age of Photoshop and cheap digital effects, you needed to plan a shot like this because it all happened on a sheet of 4×5 film. It certainly wasn’t impossible but it was more work than using the clone tool and I had a great time doing it. This poster for Theater Works was directed by Don Carter who works at the advertising agency Adams & Knight in Simsbury CT.
I’m curious if a poster like this would have the impact it had when this was shot. Of course all these posters were at least 36 inches tall by 24 wide. How can you make a poster 18 x 24 and expect to see it from across the street? In the age of sustainability, we need to figure a way to do this that saves trees and landfills. I would love too hear some suggestions for sustainable poster ideas. Let me know what you think.
